- Served as lead national security staff to senior member of the Armed Services Committee and office for all legislative and policy matters pertaining to defense and foreign policy, intelligence, and veterans affairs issues. - Spearheaded the Senator’s agenda for the annual NDAA, incorporating their legislative priorities into the bill in committee markup and via floor amendment; drafted legislation across a range of policy areas. - Leveraged relationships with Republican colleagues to introduce numerous bills and resolutions, including the National POW/MIA Flag Act of 2019 signed into law by President Trump. - Prepared and staffed the Senator for all Armed Services Committee and Subcommittee hearings, and national security meetings and briefings. - Represented the Senator and communicated their priorities and views in meetings with constituents, defense industry representatives, veterans and military families organizations, executive branch & military officials, and advocacy groups.
Legislative Advisor
- Coordinated and managed the Marine Corps’ Congressional outreach, preparing talking points and background briefings for the Commandant and USMC senior leadership. - Analyzed hundreds of legislative proposals and Executive branch rules to assess their impact on the Marine Corps, and coordinated with the appropriate Marine Corps representative to ensure implementation.
