Avian and Exotics Intern / Emergency Room Veterinarian

Present

As an Avian and Exotics Specialty Intern, I manage patient cases overseeing both new consults and follow-ups. My role involves developing and implementing sedation protocols for diagnostics and procedures, as well as creating tailored therapeutic management plans to address each patient’s unique needs. Assisting with surgical procedures for exotics/wildlife patients. As an Emergency Room Clinician, I take primary ownership of hospitalized exotic patients, with over 50% of my cases being emergency cases. Exotics: all reptiles, small mammals, all avian, rabbits, ferrets, chinchillas, rodents.

Small Animal Rotating Intern - Veterinarian

IndyVet Emergency and Specialty Hospital

Small Animal Rotations through Internal Medicine (12 weeks), Ophthalmology and Critical Care (8 weeks); Surgery (16 weeks), Oncology (4 weeks), Emergency (20 weeks), Zoo (2 weeks Indianapolis Zoo). Participated and presented in grand, morning cage side, individual department and M&M rounds. Assisted with wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. Assisted with diagnostic procedures. Primary clinician on emergency cases.

Participated in all facets of the Zoo's medical program, attended rounds and assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of a diverse range of species. Reviewed medical records in preparation for procedures, completed reading as assigned by clinicians and participate in supervised medical procedures.
