Novel COVID-19 antivirals design: -This project involved designing novel COVID-19 antivirals for therapeutic intervention of COVID-19 infections which inhibit the activity of the main protease protein of SARS-CoV-2. Chemical and biological properties of novel compounds were assessed using computational methods. -Compounds successfully tested in vitro and demonstrated effectiveness as inhibitors of the main protease protein of COVID-19 one. Modeling and investigation of structural and functional relationships of thrombospondin type-1 domain containing proteins: -This project involved modeling the structures of each of the 408 Thrombospondin type-1 containing domains in the human genome to assess the functional impact of the Trp-ladder variation. Additionally, this project involved completion of three-dimensional structural modeling of 250 of the protein domains in the thrombospondin type-1 domain containing protein family from the human genome; -This project involved designing novel proteins to inhibit and prevent autoantibody binding to the epitope sites.
