Rilwan is an ingenious transactional and dispute resolution attorney and the Managing Partner at Transadvisory Legal. He obtained his Law Degrees from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and Nigerian Law School in Lagos with Second class upper divisions respectively. Rilwan has led and structured notable commercial transactions for numerous clients. He advised a Chinese company, Bao Yao Hua Jian Iron & Steel FZE in the Calabar Free Trade Zone to negotiate and structure a debt of more than N1,600,000,000 (One Billion, Six Hundred Million Naira) in 2019 with the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria. He was also engaged by an Engineering firm, IRS Engineering Ltd to help the Nigerian Navy negotiate an indebtedness of N1,700,000,000 (One Billion Seven Hundred Thousand Naira) owed the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company Plc. I worked closely with Hon. Justice Asmau Mainoma, JCA who was then a High Court Judge at the Nasarawa State Judiciary. I was a research and legal assistant to His Lordship were I was tasked to prepare draft opinions on judgments. In my position, I proffered more than 32 legal opinions in a space of one year which were later adopted as reasoning of the court. While I worked as a Legal Assistant to His Lordship, it shaped my mind as a dispute resolution attorney at my next role in Rickey Tarfa & Co.

Nysc Associate

I served as an NYSC trainee during my youth service at NSUK, where I closely worked with the Head of the University’s Legal Department. I was responsible for preparing and drafting contract agreements relating to Build, Operate and Transfer transactions between the University and private investors. I negotiated settlement claims and appeared in court on behalf of the University for matters relating to compensation arising from acquisition of lands, labour related disputes, general civil litigation. I also performed secretarial work during management meeting at the University.
