Joined the U.S. Army in August of 2001 as a Private First Class (E-3). Went through Basic Training and AIT and was promoted to Specialist (E-4) in April of 2002. My first duty station was Fort Knox where I served as a clarinet player, vocalist, supply specialist, and single soldier representative. Promoted to Sergeant (E-5) in October of 2003. Went to the Primary Leadership Development course that month and graduated in the top 10% of my class. Won several Soldier and Noncommissioned Officer of the month and quarter boards. Was Fort NCO of the Quarter for 3rd Qtr FY 04 (fiscal year 2004). Was also sent to the SSG promotion board in 2004. Stationed at Ft Hood, TX in November of 2005. Served as a clarinet player, vocalist, supply sergeant, unit prevention leader, MWR (morale, welfare, and recreation) NCO, and clarinet section leader.
