I am currently working as an emergency veterinarian in Swansboro, North Carolina. I am a recent graduate from the University of Georgia, and my interests include surgery, parasitology, internal medicine, and exotics. The latter interest has earned me the Pete Correll Memorial Scholarship, which has helped alleviate my financial strains during my third year. Since 2018, I have accumulated over 1,000 hours of veterinary experience with small animals and exotics by working as a veterinary assistant for two years at West Valley Animal Hospital and as a doctor assistant during the summer of 2021 and 2022 at Quakertown Veterinary Clinic. Most of my exotics experience comes from working in general practice at West Valley, whereas at Quakertown, I worked with dogs and cats but primarily in an emergency setting. I worked at QVC for the summer of 2021 and summer of 2022 as a doctor assistant. Although I would sometimes be working on the general practice side of things, helping with routine vaccinations and medical appointments, I was primarily working in the emergency department. My responsibilities included discussing estimates with clients, administering subcutaneous fluids and injections to patients, taking detailed histories regarding a patient's presenting complaint, adequately restraining animals during physical exams, and supporting clients through the process of euthanasia. Throughout my time on ER, I always tried to give each patient the same care that I hoped my own pets would receive.
