Transforming the immense potential of Berlin's universities into successful and impactful entrepreneurial AI ventures – that’s my mission as Director at K.I.E.Z. K.I.E.Z. – Künstliche Intelligenz Entrepreneurship Zentrum – is a platform to promote science-based startups in the field of artificial intelligence. Our offering is geared to the specific needs of AI companies and covers the entire innovation chain: from identifying start-up potential in AI research to targeted support in the incubation phase to an AI accelerator program. We’re supported by Science & Startups, the association of start-up centres of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin as well as Technische Universität Berlin in cooperation with Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Since early 2026, we have been working directly with founders and aspiring entrepreneurs to foster entrepreneurship, deep tech and life sciences translation, and support the growth of start-ups and spin-offs. JUNI is positioned at the intersection between our universities and research institutions, and our local and international corporate and industry partners. We are backed by foundations, private investors, and all of our partners, and are one of the winners of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy's Startups Factory competition. Until the end of 2025, we engaged our partners in an initial project called UNITE. Now that we are operational, we have officially launched as JUNI, with a legal entity and governance structure that allows us to operate in a fast-paced environment.
