Student Ambassador

University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine

Acted as a representative for all events hosted by the College of Veterinary Medicine. I was tasked with ensuring everyone who visited the college left with a positive experience after visiting the campus. This included all activities from giving tours to prospective students, working graduation/white coat ceremony and being ready to answer any questions during formal events. In addition to making sure the college was well represented, I also took on a leadership and mentorship role with the incoming first year students to ease their transition into vet school from the beginning.

Purina Student Representative

Assisted with planning events within the college to inform the students about what Purina is offering while also helping them enjoy fun events without thinking of school. Developed a large social media presence where we would hold monthly events or challenges in order to offer students some respite from studying.

Vetcamp Counselor

Each year, 5 student ambassadors are chosen to lead students ranging from rising juniors in high school to rising freshmen in college. These students are all interested in pursuing veterinary medicine. As counselors, we gave each of our group a fun case example that they would have to diagnose by the end of the week and present it in a large gathering to all their peers and parents. During this week they also learned practical skills like bandaging, performed a chicken necropsy, and also had a backstage tour of Georgia Aquarium.

Anatomy Tutor

Served as an anatomy tutor during my second year to two groups of 6 students. We would meet several times throughout both semesters as the students would take small animal anatomy during the fall, and large animal anatomy during the spring.

Completed a research project on the effects of eosinophils in the clearance of Bordetella. Was one of 5 chosen students chosen to receive an NIH T35 grant for the project. Presented my summer research at the National Veterinary Science Symposium, held at Texas A&M, and at UGA’s Annual Science of Veterinary Symposium
