During the summer before my third year of vet school I worked at Harbor Animal Hospital. My duties were split between working as a doctor assistant and a technician. As a DA I received clients, took the history and vitals and scribed during the appointment. As a technician I developed skills with restraint, treatments, radiographs, vaccinations, medications, venipuncture, and cystocentesis. As a surgery technician I prepared the patients for surgery, monitored anesthesia and recovered patients post-op.

I worked at Banfied as part of their student job program. I worked as a vet assistant during appointments and assisted with restraint, treatments, radiographs, vaccinations, medications, anesthesia and patient recovery. I shadowed during appointments to observe different methods of client communication and was able to work on further developing my own client communication skills. I observed during dentals, spay, neuter, and mass removal surgeries.

I was the student manager at the Cal Poly Vet Clinic. I was responsible for managing the clinic, orders, completing and submitting the finances, caring for the clinic animals and assisting the veterinarians during appointments. I coordinated responsibilities with two other clinic managers and managed four student employees. I created the schedule for the employees and oversaw the work of 16 enterprise students.
