I also was a sales employee and I workes the cash register to complete customer transactions after they were satisfied with their selections.

In January 2013, I was in charge of performing PCR experiments in a laboratory setting where I was using DNA from foxes and comparing them to DNA in dogs. There already is a chromosome map of the dog genome where there is not a completed one for the fox, so I was testing gaps between scaffolds, which are sections of chromosomes on the fox. I performed many PCR and gel electrophoresis experiments and also got my products sequenced and I was allowed to examine base pairs and their interactions. The summer of 2014, I was in charge of PCR and gel electrophoresis experiments that allowed me to examine my data. I was given primers called OPRM1 receptors and to test it with the DNA of both tame and aggressive foxes. We decided to use OPRM1 receptors because they function with neuronal responses which can further explain how those responses directly have on behavior in those foxes. I performed many PCR and gel electrophoresis experiments in order to compile and examine my data.

I was given the opportunity to study abroad in Cape Town, South Africa where I was able to prep animals for surgical procedures. I worked alongside two veterinarians named Dr. Brian Bergmann and Dr. Blessing. I mainly interacted with cats, dogs, birds, and rabbits while there and assisted wherever my assistance was needed. I shaved, drew blood, wrapped bandages, and administered anesthetics to the animals to help aid the veterinarians. They were very knowledgeable and I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to work next to them.
