I am a fourth year student at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. I have worked with a wide variety of animals my whole life. I learned how to care for them, keep them happy and educate others on doing the same. My goal is to become a veterinarian and do my part to ensure the health and safety of people, animals and the environment.

As a research assistant, I learned to read and interpret ultrasounds of American Black Bear fetuses during different stages of pregnancy. Additionally, I learned to prepare and interpret chemical assays or blood samples to determine the presence of different hormones throughout the duration of the selected bears' pregnancies. We discovered many new findings regarding the gestation period for the American Black Bear and planned to present our findings at the Pennsylvania State Science Conference (Prior to Covid). The project is still in progress and we hope to publish our findings.

This externship gave me more experience with companion animals in a general practice and urgent care setting. I really enjoyed the challenge of using the information provided by clients and my physical exam to determine the most effective diagnostic workup for patients. I also developed my client communication skills to obtain information, explain findings and convey next steps. Head Animal Caretaker and Animal Education Coordinator

During my Broadreach Costa Rica Pre-Veterinary Internship experience, I worked directly with domestic, livestock and wildlife. The class was split into lecture and field work. We discussed anatomy, genealogy, common problems and illnesses. Next, we learned how to properly perform examinations on each animal to identify different symptoms. Finally, we practiced our skills in the field under veterinary supervision.
