About
The decision to pursue a career in veterinary medicine was sparked by my interest in the epidemiology of zoonotic and infectious diseases. As a high school student, I spent my free time reading books about disease pathophysiology and epidemics. In college, I pursued a Master of Public Health and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine that further expanded my knowledge of diseases affecting animals and humans. Recognizing the risks associated with investing high mortality diseases such as Ebola led me to abort the idea of becoming a “disease investigator”. Later work in a laboratory evaluating diseases affecting animals-carrying mosquitoes under a microscope helped me discover that I didn’t enjoy the solitude of research. I decided to pursue a career path in small animal clinical medicine upon graduating veterinary college.
