MIT Technology Review 2019 Honours List of 10 Innovators Under 35 (APAC) for my invention of Life Whisperer and its formation into a company. “The innovation of this work is inherent in the coming together of contrasting technology fields - deep AI image analytics, embryo domain expertise, a modern cloud-based solution for scalable product delivery, as well as a secure and HIPAA-compliant centralized database, to help ensure data integrity and assist bio-informatics studies on the high quality labeled medical data. An international clinical study involving 12 IVF centers across the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia showed that Life Whisperer consistently improves viability selection identification performance over highly experienced embryologists by a factor of over 20%. Life Whisperer uses artificial intelligence (AI) to better select identify embryos for IVF, and to ultimately improve outcomes for couples wanting to have children. Fertility globally is declining, and success rates for IVF are very low (~20%) placing an emotional and financial burden on couples wanting to have children. Current approaches for selecting embryos in IVF are either invasive, risky, costly, or manual and subjective. Unlike other solutions, Life Whisperer is delivered to IVF clinics globally via a cloud-based system, does not require any costly hardware or process change, and can be delivered at a low cost.
