About

I'm a newly graduated small animal emergency veterinarian at VEG ER for Pets. I am hardworking and enthusiastic and bring dedication and passion to all that I do.

Experience

Emergency Veterinarian

VEG ER for Pets · Falls Church, Virginia, United States

Present

I am an emergency veterinarian, who is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care to all patients, including exotics. Through the "New ER Doctor" training program, I am honing my skills in triage, stabilization, emergency procedures/surgery, and endoscopy. I am passionate about client communication, teamwork, and continuous learning in the field of emergency and critical care.

Veterinary Medicine Student

Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine & Veterinary Hospital · West Lafayette, Indiana, United States

Through rigorous coursework and engaging labs, I gained hands-on experience with large and small animal medicine, physical exams, husbandry, rehabilitation, and diagnostics. I conducted 20 spays and neuters on shelter cats and dogs and independently managed anesthesia machines for surgeries. I practiced working in teams to solve cases and to foster idea-building, while developing effective client communication skills in veterinary settings.

Veterinary Products Student Representative

Dechra · West Lafayette, Indiana, United States

I brainstormed and directed events, lunch lectures, and giveaways to showcase Dechra’s commonly used veterinary products. Additionally, I coordinated charitable donations to Purdue’s canine educator program on behalf of Dechra.

Study Abroad Veterinary Assistant

VetX Capture & Care · Hartenbos, Western Cape, South Africa

I participated in a three-week wildlife field experience program, learning about wildlife care/medicine and conservation. During the program, I assisted in the capture, treatment, and relocation of 258 wild animals and completed 180 hours of experience. Highlights of the program included administering IV/IM/SQ injections to zebras, antelopes, gazelles, and cape buffalo during high-speed captures; setting fractured wings on an ostrich; and performing necropsies on gazelles to help identify cause of death. This experience helped me gain more confidence, efficiency, and communication skills during high-stress situations.

Veterinary Assistant

Precious Paws Veterinary Hospital · Ocean View, Delaware, United States

I assisted veterinarians with small animal and exotic wellness and urgent visits, diagnostic imaging, lab/chemistry tests, dentistry, and complex surgeries (c-section, foreign body, tooth removal, dog fight victim). I administered shots and medications, removed sutures, trimmed nails, and cleaned ears during “Vet Tech” visits. I communicated with clients to answer questions, provide doctor’s directions, explain medicinal instructions/side effects, and clarify estimates and surgery consent forms.

Shadow

Pender Veterinary Group · Fairfax, Virginia, United States

I shadowed a small animal veterinarian to observe daily responsibilities of a veterinary surgeon. I observed clinical/surgery days, including tumor removals, spays, neuters, teeth extractions, and sperm collections.
