Created and presented a winning poster at RUSVM's Research Day. Research involved the One Health/zoonotic risks of African Green Vervet monkeys that roamed the island, and the health threat they posed to humans when allowed to share common areas. I obtained fecal samples and identified the parasites these monkeys carried, obtained GI tracts from deceased monkeys and sifted the contents to retrieve adult worms (for DNA), washed the hands and feet of monkeys to identify infective stages of zoonotic parasites, and examined picnic tables at local eateries (where monkeys were often fed to attract tourists) for infective stages of these parasites.
