Aided in a NASA funded research study on the “Extents, Causes, and Countermeasures of Impaired Fracture Healing in Hypogravity”. I had daily handling of rats and was responsible for giving daily injections, both subcutaneously and intramuscularly and was responsible for anesthetizing animals. I assisted in surgeries to both fracture the hind limbs and to deal with complications that arose after the procedures. I was also responsible for suturing animals and providing post-surgical care and monitoring and helped to CT the animals every other week. I worked closely with the veterinarians and vet techs in the animal research wing as well as my principal investigator to make sure the animals were getting the best care possible and aided in data collection for the study.
