Create tailored general anesthesic protocols for various equine orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries. Induce patient under general anesthesia, perform endotracheal intubation, assist in movement of patient using mechanical hoist. Monitor patient anesthetic depth and vital parameters (EKG, pulse-ox, arterial blood pressure, temperature) while mainting complete anesthetic record. Deliver intravenous fluids and medications via continuous rate infusions to maintain appropriate blood pressure, hydration and electrolyte balances. Interpret arterial blood gas samples and adjust mechanical ventilation/medications if indicated. Supervise patients during recovery from general anesthesia.
