Laboratory Animal Care Technician

Performed cage changes and daily health checks of animals: mice, rats, lamprey, crayfish, and geckos. Performed routine maintenance and cleaning of animal rooms and cage wash areas. Assisted in preparing routine sentinel samples. Performed humane euthanasia as warranted. Performed administration duties pertaining to IACUC and IBC protocols. Prepared the materials and took minutes for IACUC and IBC meetings. Kept track of animal numbers and other relevant information to compile for our biannual program description revisions and accreditation (AAALAC, USDA, and OLAW assurance) paperwork and visits. Participated in discussions of reporting noncompliance issues to OLAW. Assisted PIs with providing relevant SOP and facility information while grant writing. Led IACUC tour groups on biannual facility inspections.
