Experience

Associate Veterinarian

ROCKWALL COUNTY VETERINARY CLINIC, P.C.

Present

Associate Veterinarian

Hillside Veterinary Clinic · Dallas, TX

Veterinary Assistant

Middletown Animal Clinic · Middletown, Kentucky

This position as a Veterinary Technician's Assistant helped to educate me for this career. The veterinarians were wonderful mentors that continued to teach up until I started rotations at Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine. While working here, I helped the clinicians in the exam rooms by proper animal restraint, I performed blood draws, and aided the clinician during various surgeries.

Extern

Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) · Sanibel Island, Florida

Over the summer of 2014, I participated in a six week externship with Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife on Sanibel Island, FL. They would have intakes everyday ranging from songbirds to small mammals. It was our job, under surveilance of a clinician to triage each intake and provide proper hydration. During the externship it was also our responsibility to provide hospital care, feed, clean, and help manage the outdoor enclosures. I learned many new techniques ranging from tube feeding infant rabbits to properly handling a variety of many high stress or dangerous birds. I had a wonderful experience with this program and would recommend it to any veterinary student with a passion for exotic medicine. The staff was incredible and promoted a healthy learning environment. The hours may have been long, but the education given was invaluable. The best part of the externship was releasing the healthy patient back into the wild.

Student Volunteer

Southeastern Raptor Rehabilitation Center · Auburn, Alabama

I started volunteering at the Southeastern Raptor Rehabilitation Center the spring of my Freshman year at Auburn University. My duties included cleaning cages, feeding and medicating raptors, as well as helping maintain the flight aviaries. It was also part of the job to evaluate intakes and do flight evaluations under the watchful eye of the head clinician. Volunteers also got to train the resident red tail hawk residents for educational purposes for the community.
