About
I am a veterinarian and registered veterinary technician/veterinary nurse who has continued her passion for veterinary science and the pursuit of animal welfare through studies to become the veterinary doctor I am now and earn a PhD. While a dual degree DVM student, I earned a PhD in comparative biomedical sciences, specializing in transcriptome analysis and immune pathway regulation to understand biomolecular disease pathology in canine skin diseases. Many of the diseases I study are also shared by humans (atopic dermatitis or eczema, pemphigus, and cutaneous lupus to name a few), allowing us to compare these diseases between species and identify common pathways where both species could benefit from similar therapeutic targets. My research and interests have now led me towards the current residency I hold in anatomic pathology at the University of Georgia.
