Frick Art & Historical Center

One of southwestern Pennsylvania’s—and the nation’s—most distinctive museums, the Frick holds in its collections fine arts, decorative arts, historic objects and buildings and impressive grounds and gardens that tell the fascinating story of Pittsburgh’s rise to prominence in the late 19th- and early 20th-centuries. The museum’s collections constitute the region’s best assemblage of artifacts relating to the life and times of 19th- and early 20th-century Pittsburgh; most of these are remarkably well preserved. The Frick is the region’s only organization dedicated to the interdisciplinary goal of illuminating the art, history, architecture and culture of this pivotal period in Pittsburgh’s history. As membership manager, I have created a moves management system to successfully increase members and donors to higher levels of giving, increasing membership by 54.2% during first 16 months in the position. I strategically manage on-site, mail and web membership acquisition efforts; annual gi…

Leadership Development Initiative XVIII

The Leadership Development Initiative (LDI) program is an investment in the future leader. LDI is a 10 month long program for high-potential young professionals. This creative and innovative leadership training program has served as a model for several others around the country. The faculty at Leadership Pittsburgh utilizes data-driven training models and provides access to experts who share their experiences as our community grooms the leaders who will lead this community in the coming years. It strengthens the bonds of this highly mobile talent pool with others in their cohort and with the region. LDI is a retention and engagement tool for our area’s businesses and nonprofits.

Director of Development

Western PA Humane Society

The Western PA Humane Society is an open-door shelter that never turns away an animal in need. Their mission is to provide the most comprehensive, compassionate and educational services to enhance the lives of companion animals for families and the community, and to prevent the cruelty of all animals in the region they serve. In addition to animal sheltering, the WPHS offers low-cost clinic and spay-neuter services, obedience classes, humane education programs, and animal behavior consultations. As the Director of Development, I managed the annual fundraising budget of $1M. I planned, implemented and measured the annual campaign and membership drive, as well as the email, newsletter and social media marketing activities. I also wrote all foundation proposals and managed follow-up reports.

Director of Development

Opera Theater of Pittsburgh

Opera Theater’s mission is to create new works, reinterpret older works in new ways, build diversity in programming and casting, support emerging talent, and broaden audiences through outreach and education. In just over a year-and-a-half, I was able to generate over $136,000 in new foundation support for the organization, create and run a series of fundraising events hosted in homes around the city, and build a database to track pledges, payments and manage patron information in FileMaker Pro.

Donor Relations

Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of the premier orchestras in the world. Their flagship series, BNY Mellon Grand Classics, brings classical music’s greatest compositions performed by the world’s greatest artists to the Pittsburgh region. The PNC Pops music series, conducted by Marvin Hamlisch, offers a lighter side—so there’s always something for everyone! I worked my way up from Donor Support Assistant, where I conducted research to assist in the cultivation of individual and corporate donors, to become the Manager of Special Events. I successfully managed and promoted A Knight to Remember, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s largest fundraising event of the 2005-2006 season.
