Worked as an assistant in a fast paced urgent care environment, seeing everything from general practice appointments to emergencies. Had the opportunity to gain experience with the various rescue organizations that had pre-exisiting relationships with this hospital.

Developed a strong knowledge of urban emergency medicine during a 2 week externship. My client communication skills improved by obtaining the necessary history of a patient in a timely fashion. I had the opportunity to perform physical exams and discuss any abnormalities noted. I was then able to assist with the diagnosis process and develop a list of differentials from evaluating the results acquired. Alongside the doctor, I was able to develop a treatment plan and wrote up the patients records. Additionally, I helped manage the hospitalized patients and had the opportunity to assist with a laceration repair on a dog and help care for multiple blocked cats.
