Origami Reviews and Pricing for Startup Sales Teams

When we launched our closed beta, I wasn't sure if startups would get it. We built Origami to be different—AI-native, conversational, signal-focused.

Turns out, startups get it more than anyone.

After onboarding 100+ startup teams, here's the honest breakdown of what Origami does well, where it falls short, and whether the pricing makes sense for early-stage companies.

Updated January 2026

Quick Summary

Origami is an AI-powered prospecting platform that lets you find and research prospects using natural language queries. Instead of clicking through filters, you describe what you want and get results.

Best for: Startups with 1-20 person sales teams who value speed and prospect quality over volume.

Not best for: Enterprise teams needing complex CRM workflows or high-volume cold email.

Pricing: 7-day free trial (1,000 credits). Paid plans from $80/month (5,500 credits).

Overall rating: 4.5/5 for startups

What Origami Does

Core Functionality

  1. Natural Language Prospecting

Type: "Find Series A B2B SaaS companies with 50-200 employees in the US that are hiring for sales"

Get: A list of matching companies with verified contacts

  2. 15+ Integrated Data Sources

Origami pulls from 15+ sources in real-time: LinkedIn companies (69M+), job postings, tech stack data, LinkedIn posts & engagement, Twitter/X, Shopify/WooCommerce stores, Google Maps local businesses, email verification, and phone lookup. Data is fresher than static database platforms.

Plus: Import your own CSVs to enrich existing lists with Origami's data sources.

  3. Signal Detection

Built-in monitoring for funding announcements, job postings, executive changes, and other buying signals.

  4. Enrichment

Automatic verification of emails and phone numbers. Company data enrichment included.

  5. CRM Integration

Push prospects directly to Salesforce or HubSpot. No CSV export/import needed.

Pricing Breakdown

Current Plans (as of January 2026)

Plan Monthly Price Credits Included Additional Credits Key Features
Trial Free (7 days) 1,000 credits Cannot buy more All data sources, 1 agent, no contact info export
Starter $80 5,500 credits $15 per 1,000 CSV export, email/phone lookup, 1 concurrent agent
Pro $200 16,000 credits $12.50 per 1,000 5 concurrent agents, BYOK, 24-hour SLA
Scale $500 50,000 credits $10 per 1,000 Unlimited agents, Slack channel, SSO/SCIM, 12-hour SLA

What is a "Credit"?

One credit roughly equals one enrichment action (finding a company, getting an email, scraping a LinkedIn profile, etc.). The Starter plan's 5,500 credits typically translates to 500-1,000 fully enriched prospects per month, depending on how much data you're gathering per prospect.

Example: Finding a company with verified email = ~5-10 credits. Finding a company, getting 3 decision-maker contacts with emails and phone numbers = ~20-30 credits.

What Startups Actually Pay

Based on our user data:

  • Pre-seed/Seed startups: Usually start on Free, upgrade to Starter
  • Series A startups: Typically on Starter or Team
  • Series B+ startups: Team or Enterprise

Compared to Alternatives

Tool Startup-Friendly Price What You Get
Origami $80/mo (5,500 credits) AI agent, 15+ data sources, enrichment, CSV import/export
Apollo $49/user/mo Database, sequences, dialer
ZoomInfo $15,000+/year Enterprise database
Clay $149/mo (2,000 credits) Workflow enrichment

Value comparison: Origami Starter includes 5,500 credits vs Clay's 2,000 at nearly double the price. For startups, Origami provides more credits and built-in data sources at a lower cost.

Is Origami Worth It for Your Startup?

Origami is GREAT if:

  • You're a founder doing your own prospecting
  • You have a small sales team (1-10 people)
  • You value prospect quality over quantity
  • You're targeting tech companies or funded startups
  • You want signal-based selling (not just cold lists)
  • You already have an email tool you like

Origami is NOT ideal if:

  • You need 50,000+ cold emails per month
  • You want an all-in-one platform with sequencing
  • Your ICP is traditional industries with poor online presence
  • You need enterprise compliance (SOC 2, etc.) — coming soon
  • You have complex Salesforce workflows

Starting with Origami

For Pre-Seed/Seed Startups

Recommendation: Start with the 7-day free trial

  • 1,000 credits is enough to build 100-200 enriched prospects
  • Test all data sources and features
  • No credit card required
  • Upgrade to Starter ($80/mo) if you're seeing results

For Series A Startups

Recommendation: Start with Starter ($80/month)

  • 5,500 credits/month = 500-1,000 enriched prospects
  • CSV import/export + CRM integration
  • Email and phone lookup included
  • ROI typically positive within first month
  • Can buy additional credits at $15 per 1,000 if needed

For Series B+ Startups

Recommendation: Pro ($200/mo) or Scale ($500/mo)

  • Pro: 16,000 credits, 5 concurrent agents for 5x faster research, BYOK, 24-hour SLA
  • Scale: 50,000 credits, unlimited concurrent agents, dedicated Slack channel, SSO/SCIM, 12-hour SLA
  • Multiple team members share credit pool
  • Bring your own API keys to reduce costs

The Bottom Line

Origami isn't for everyone. If you need an all-in-one platform with email sequencing, Apollo is probably better for you.

But if you want the best AI prospecting experience, with natural language queries and real-time signal detection, Origami is hard to beat.

For startups specifically, the combination of flat pricing, fast setup, and quality-over-quantity approach makes it a strong fit.

We're biased, obviously. But we built this for founders and small sales teams because we WERE founders and small sales teams. We built what we wanted.

Try the free tier. You'll know in 30 minutes if it's right for you.
